All students enrolled at Emory, undergraduate or graduate, regardless of major,
may enroll
in a music department ensemble and receive class credit.

- Which choral ensemble requires an audition?
Concert Choir
- When are auditions?
Auditions for Fall 2008 are Wednesday through Friday, August 27th-29th. A sign up sheet will be on Dr. Nelson's door that week, so please come by and sign up for a time.
- Where are auditions?
Dr. Nelson's office, Rm. 216 in the Schwartz Center. Click here for an interactive map if you are unsure where the Schwartz Center is.
- What will I do in the audition?
Dr. Nelson will ask you about your previous choral experience,
vocalize you through your range, and ask you to sightread.
- Do I need to bring a prepared piece?
This is optional. If you have one, it would be to your advantage to sing a prepared piece.
It gives you an opportunity to show your musicality and phrasing.
- What if I don't have a prepared piece?
Not a problem.
- What style does the prepared piece need to be?
Classical is best, but a folk song is also acceptable.
- Do I need an accompanist?
No, Dr. Nelson will serve as your accompanist.
- When will I know if I made it into Concert Choir?
The roster will be posted outside Dr. Nelson's office soon after auditions are completed.
