Collaborative Piano

MUS 300M:  Collaborative Piano
Prof. Deborah Thoreson, dir.

Pianists interested in performing chamber music with an instrumentalist or singer may enroll in Collaborative Piano and receive one academic credit hour.  This course is open to all qualified pianists by audition and is recommended for piano majors.  Pianists will be paired with several students and perform in the Perspectives on Performance (POP) student recital and final jury.  Works performed by student duos have included Beethoven, Brahms and Poulenc sonatas for wind or string instrument and piano, Kreisler duets for violin and piano, German, French, and American art song for voice and piano, and instrumental concertos by Mozart, Bruch, Lalo, and others. Students also perform piano works written for 4-hands, one piano and 8-hands, two pianos.
