Auditions - Prospective Students
Welcome! We are pleased that you are considering Music at Emory.
High-school seniors may audition in person (required for voice auditions) or by taped recording:
- to be eligible for a music major at Emory, provided you are admitted to Emory
University.
- for the Music Merit Scholarship.
Music Department Ensembles : High School students do not audition for ensemble
enrollment prior to their arrival on campus. Ensembles at Emory, except University
Chorus, require an audition. Ensemble membership is encouraged for all students
enrolled at Emory, music majors and non-majors. Students wishing to participate
in ensembles should contact the Music Department once they are on campus in the
fall.
Music Merit Scholarship
Each
year Emory College offers several half-tuition music merit scholarships to incoming
freshmen who show exceptional promise in their applied area and who are interested in performing in a major ensemble during their time at Emory. Students who wish
to be considered for these scholarships must meet all admission requirements of
Emory University. All auditioning students
are considered for the scholarship; no additional paperwork is required. Scholarship
recipients will be notified in April.
Application Deadline: February 1 of your senior year.
All Emory students may audition to declare a music major once they arrive
on campus; however, only high-school seniors who audition by February
1 of their senior year will be considered for a Music Merit Scholarship.

Recorded Audition: Piano and Instrumental students who are auditioning for admission to the music program may audition live or send a recording (tape or CD) directly to the Music Department office.
Instrumental students planning to major or double major in music and who wish to be considered for the Music Merit Scholarship (1/2 tuition) should appear live or have their recording postmarked on or before February 1 of their senior year.
Students wishing to participate in ensembles, lessons and/or courses do not need to audition at this time, but are welcome to send recordings to the Office of Admission to supplement their application. It is helpful, however, if you contact us via email or US mail at this time to let us know of your interest so that we can assist you in the fall prior to auditions.
