Wind Ensemble Auditions
Wind players should prepare two contrasting excerpts: one fast and technical / one slow and lyrical, from the standard solo or etude repertoire for your instrument, comprising 2-5 minutes of music. Selected chromatic, major and minor scales will be asked, and sightreading will be provided.
Percussionists should prepare two out of three of: snare drum, timpani, mallets. Basic rudiments (snare) and major scales (mallets) may be requested.
Students will be evaluated on the basis of tone quality, intonation, technique, rhythmic accuracy, expressiveness, and reading ability.
In late July and early August, auditions may be scheduled on "e-audition," which will be linked from this site. Arrive at the North Lobby of the Schwartz Center (facing the Business School courtyard) to the ground floor hallway outside room 210, about ten minutes prior to your audition time.
